Omojo was written for the Omojo Percussion Duo (Oliver Molina and Joe W. Moore III). The title of the piece comes from the name of the group which is a combination of Oliver and Joe's names. The movements are based on mirrored set-ups, each player having the exact same instruments. Movement I, flux, in centered around the idea of thing being steady and and flowing. Movement II, flex, is centered around the idea of the bow flexing against the vibraphone bars to create sustain. Movement III, flox, is inspired by the concept of fluid oxygen and is very rambunctious in style being the only movement to use multi-percussion set-ups instead of metallic keyboards like vibes or bells.
