'Crescent' for percussion quintet
'Crescent' is written for percussion quintet. Each player has a relatively small set up and each part is equally involved throughout the piece. The literary definition of crescent is growth, increase, or development; this served as my inspiration as I composed the piece. This work is similar in style to 'Fourfold' by Dead Resonance (Brett Dietz, Chad Heiny, Jude Traxler, and myself). This is a great piece for an intermediate to advanced percussion ensemble.
Player 1 - piccolo snare drum and field drum
Player 2 - 3 resonant metal pipes/metal objects/almglocken/Thai gongs/ceramic flower pots (performer's choice)
Player 3 - bongos and small kick drum
Player 4 - 2 toms and cymbal stack played with kick pedal.
Player 5 - 4 log drums
